How to buy new cool stuff for few bucks

There are some new ways to shop lately and there’s no shortage of web sites offering great deals, everything from daily deals to members-only private sales. But when it comes to really unbelievable prices it always points to penny-auctions or reverse-auctions.

Now, if you afraid of some action, these sites are not for you, go back to Amazon, pay the full retail price and enjoy ... but ... if there some adventure spirit in your blood you might find these sites really exciting. The "only" problem is that it is ALL or NOTHING... yep... either your get some amazing deal ( an iPod 2 for only tens of bucks) or your bids (fee) is gone.

The company is called BidsArena and they auction the hottest, most wanted stuff we cannot live withou like PC notebooks, HDTV’s, Apple iPads and iPods, MAC and  even a monstrous Suzuki Hayabusa  as well as other items like gift cards but, unlike other sites, the prices people pay are nowhere near retail.

How low are the prices?  Well, here are some examples of maximum prices:

$12 for a new Apple iPad 32 GB (retail $600)
$34 for a new Apple Macbook Air (retail $1600)
$28 for a Nikon D3100  (retail $700)
$14     for a Louis Vuitton Alma BB (retail about $1000)

The first reaction on seeing these prices is  disbelief.  After all, how can  BidsArena sell those items for such under pricing but it's actually very simple. The auction site always charges a small fee per each bid, the fee to bid is only about 80 cents or less depending on which Credit pack you choose and it adds up to at least the product cost and an operational margin that keeps them running.

For the auction winner, the total cost is always a bit higher that what it seem because let's not forget that each bid costs around 60c. If you play smart and spread bids in a way that builds some strategy ( easy because you see in real time which place you hold and can always improve it , JUST remember how much you spend on the bids . I got to the conclusion that the best way is to place bids like crazy and don;t let anyone near the top , this also intimidates the other participants and also lets you grab few placements thus if someone disqualifies one of your bids you always have more  :)

Now here is the problem , if you go all the way and place a lot of bids it might get you to the first place but as you can do it so others can , so it's basically a game of balls , really .. so this is what i call action.

If you don't need that $2000 Apple super duper station then don't even start because then you will not go all the way and someone else that really wants it will ... think how many bids he can place for $1000 for example , if he wants it and tells to himself "I'm fighting for it" you will have no chance because even by bidding with $1000 (which is crazy) it is still half retail price.. and if you're just started for fun forget it ...

In the other hand you can break him with one bid :) , also can others do to you so it's a real fight for the crazy ones among the casuals ...

Donate Bose ???

According to Engadget (citing via CNN) , Amar Bose donates majority of Bose Corporation shares to MIT, says thanks for the education ...
"Bose felt compelled to give something back and he's opted for the most grandiose of gestures. MIT won't be able to sell its shares in Bose Corp. nor have any say in the way it is run, but it'll receive dividends as and when they're paid out, which will then be reinvested in its research and education programs"

I don't know why but the Bose name always sounded very serious and high quality ... i never owned any of their stuff but i intend to before it's too late, the Bose Acoustimass 5 Series will do i guess...
